What appears to be a gang-related shooting at a gas station brings Jack Raydor into the Murder Room not as a husband with boundary issues but as a court-appointed attorney for a witness with parole violation problems. It starts as a win-win situation for both Captain and Mr. Raydor, but turns into a confrontation soon after. Meanwhile, Rusty is trying to get out of dinner with Kris’ parents.

Flynn and Provenza are supposed to pick up a witness from the airport and deliver him to the courtroom, but as is always the case when a sentence starts with the words “Flynn and Provenza” things don’t quite go according to plan. Also, Rusty introduces the team to his study partner, prompting a lot of maternal curiosity and a friendly bet between Provenza and his Captain.

After a long, job-induced hiatus, the Major Crimes review is finally back with more season 2 goodness. It simply is my favorite season of the show. So, without further ado, here is Under the Influence, in which we get a car chase, a blood-covered suspect, a serious contender for the Mother of the Year Award, an annoying Hollywood writer, and a seriously badass Captain Raydor.
